5 Lessons on Living


Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to six diverse and vibrant countries. Each destination taught me unique lessons about how to make the most of the sunny season. Here are my top five lessons on living in summer, inspired by my adventures abroad.


1. Embrace the Outdoors


Discover Local Wonders: During my travels, I realized the importance of exploring each place's natural beauty. From hiking the lush trails of New Zealand to lounging on the pristine beaches of Greece, being outdoors made me feel more connected to the world and myself.


Tip: Make it a point to explore your surroundings, whether a nearby park, a hiking trail, or a coastal town. Nature has a way of rejuvenating the soul.


2. Stay Active and Engaged


Adopt Local Activities: Each country I visited had its unique way of staying active. In Italy, I joined locals for evening bike rides, while in Japan, I participated in traditional morning exercises in the park. Staying active kept me healthy and allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture.


Tip: Incorporate physical activities unique to your locale or try something new, like paddleboarding, outdoor yoga, or joining a local sports team.



3. Savor Seasonal Foods


Taste the Freshness: Traveling through markets in France and Thailand, I was amazed by the variety and freshness of seasonal produce. I learned to appreciate the simplicity and flavour of fresh fruits and vegetables, which tasted amazing and provided essential nutrients.


Tip: Visit your local farmers' market to buy fresh, seasonal produce. Experiment with new recipes that highlight these ingredients and enjoy the natural flavours of summer.


4. Connect with People


Build Connections: One of the most fulfilling parts of my travels was the people I met. Whether I shared a meal with a host family in Spain or made new friends at a beach party in Australia, these connections enriched my experiences and created lasting memories.


Tip: Connect with friends, family, and even strangers. Organize gatherings, attend local events, or volunteer in your community to build meaningful relationships.




5. Prioritise Self-Care and Relaxation


Balance Activity and Rest: While I was eager to explore and stay active, I also learned the importance of taking time to relax. In Bali, I found peace practising yoga by the beach, and in Switzerland, I enjoyed quiet moments journaling by serene lakes.


Tip: Balance your summer activities with moments of relaxation. Practice mindfulness, take leisurely walks, or simply unwind with a good book in a peaceful spot.


Bonus Lesson: Stay Open and Flexible


Embrace Spontaneity: One of the biggest lessons from my travels was the value of being open and adaptable. Plans changed, the weather shifted, and unexpected opportunities arose. Embracing spontaneity led to some of the most memorable experiences.


Tip: Stay flexible with your summer plans. Be open to spontaneous adventures and embrace the unexpected with a positive attitude.
